Llucayanacu and mushuk Pakarina- House of the New Rising Sun

I spent 5 weeks with Orlando Chujandama, in his home village of Llucayanacu, where he is building a health center (mushuk Pakarina- quechua for ¨house of the new rising sun¨). The village is 45 minutes down river from Chazuta, which is roughly and hour (depending on the road construction) from Tarapota, in the Northern Region of San Martin in Peru. Here are some immortilized moments i thought were worth sharing..

a typical visitor
Inca Kola O Agua? Inca Kola of course!
a typical situation on the Peruvian Andes roads.
ceremony room
chaculpa leaves
Orlandos Maloca and Kitchen (which blew over in a wind storm during my stay!)
a divine family member of the orchids
Ajo Sacha
rice and bananas, once a day, for 35 days.
Orlando Chujandama
Rainy departure from LLucayanacu back up the Huallga Rio towards Chazuta
back at orlandos home in Tarapoto

there was always a thunderstorm in the distance, but for the most part they seemed to skirt around Mushuk Pakarina.

EcoTruly Snaps!!

Here´s Some snaps of Eco Truly; a Krsna consciousness eco-village I was fortunate enought to spend two weeks at. This place is full of kind and kindred spirits, I would reccomend it to people who have never been to peru, as a initial destination. The farmers are quiet and humble, the food is great- especially if your a vegetarian travelling in South America. Enjoy!

Eco truly

Im here at the Ecotruly village, in Chancay, northern Peru. Like an oasis, this village is tucked between steep sand dunes and the pacific ocean. Followers of the Krshna Movement build this place some time ago. You can see some pictures and learn more about the village here:

Follow me through Peru!

From March 20th until who knows, I will be traveling from Olympia, Washington to many different places in Peru, to inhabit Eco-villages and art centers, yoga teacher training programs, local communities and biodiversity conservation projects. This trip will become an extension of the original intention of this blog, which is to provide a vacuum for complementary informational fields, particularly the explorations of holistic health, ecology, social change, leading edge science, and spirituality.

Fresh thought is sporing, and there are people and organizations who are manifesting their intentions in the face of adversity the world over. It is my intention to support the co-creation our new world, and to serve as a gatherer of life-affirming thoughts, words, and actions. This is no place for pessimism- I just don;t have the time or energy to waste!

I humbly invite you along this sojourn with me, if I should be invited to sojourn with you!

a message from the Hopi Elders

"You have been telling people that this is the eleventh hour.
Now you must go back and tell people that this is the hour!
And there are things to be considered:
Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your Garden.
It is time to speak your truth.
Create your community.
Be good to yourself.
And not look outside of yourself for a leader.
This could be a good time!
There is a river flowing very fast.
It is so great and fast that there are those who will be afraid.
They will hold on to the shore.
They will feel that they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly.
Know that the river has its destination.
The elders say that we must let go of the shore,
push off into the middle of the river,
keep our eyes open,
and our heads above the water.
See who is in there with you and celebrate.
At this time we are to take nothing personally,
least of all, ourselves.
For the moment that we do,
our spiritual growth comes to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over.
Gather yourselves!
Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
We are the ones that we have been waiting for."

books

Here is a list of books I am finding useful along the way.

Ecology/Ethnobotany

The trend of these books is pointing towards to the rediscovery of the intimate interconnectedness of nature, through the eyes of invisible peoples, doctors, classic artists, physicists, and ethnobotanists. Healing our ties with nature through artistic, scientific and traditional mediums, we can start to feel the multidimensional value of integrating a holistic view back into our daily human experience, on an individual, social and global collective.

-The Web of Life. Fritjof Capra
-Green Psychology. Ralph Metzner
-The Wholeness of Nature. Goethe
-The Wayfinders. Wade Davis (any book from him would do!)
-Singing to the Plants. Steven Bayer
-Sacred Plant Medicine. Stephan Buhner
-The Cosmic Serpent. Jeremy Narby
-Ecopsychology- Theodore Rozak

This will be continuously updated. I will also add PDF files to my reviews!
